This blog is about my dad, Ben, and his twin brother, Calvin. Both served in the Pacific during WWII. Calvin was killed in New Guinea, not in combat, but in an accident while unloading supplies from a barge. My grandmother saved all of the letters they wrote home from the beginning to the end. I read them when I was younger, but after reading them again recently I realized what an absolute treasure they are. I created this blog to be able to share them with family and friends.

Ben, Aug. 9, 1944
Because of the writing on the back of the 3rd page,
I will write for you what I believe it says.
"You know Mom, I will tell you something if you promise not
to tell anybody else. A promise, well, just between you, the censor, and myself.
I think I have two of the best sisters in the world.
Tell Florence that I will answer her letters just as soon as I have time.
Well for now I must close. Will try to write again tomorrow.
Love,
Ben"
This was written on the back from Anna to Florence.

Ben, Aug. 17, 1944
This was written on the back of the last page of this letter.
It was written by Anna, but I don't know who it was written to.
Only that she told them to save it.
