This blog is about my dad, Ben, and his twin brother, Calvin. Both served in the Pacific during WWII. Calvin was killed in New Guinea, not in combat, but in an accident while unloading supplies from a barge. My grandmother saved all of the letters they wrote home from the beginning to the end. I read them when I was younger, but after reading them again recently I realized what an absolute treasure they are. I created this blog to be able to share them with family and friends.

And a Final Note
If I could send a letter to heaven to these two,
it might sound something like this.
1. I love you.
2. I miss you.
3. The words 'Thank you for your service'
are not nearly big enough.
And to my sweet uncle:
Yes. Your heifers were pretty.
