This blog is about my dad, Ben, and his twin brother, Calvin. Both served in the Pacific during WWII. Calvin was killed in New Guinea, not in combat, but in an accident while unloading supplies from a barge. My grandmother saved all of the letters they wrote home from the beginning to the end. I read them when I was younger, but after reading them again recently I realized what an absolute treasure they are. I created this blog to be able to share them with family and friends.
Really liked this one; seems like such a nice young man! Sends money to family to spend as they want or need, sends money for pastor (I think, or did he mean pasture?), reads his Sunday school lesson 'just the same' after missing church. And still likes the army 'just fine'!
